Jazz and Resistance: a brief genealogy of the resistive aspects in jazz. From early jazz in America, to jazz in Nazi Germany, and free-jazz in France.

Preface

This short entry is not necessarily philosophy related, but I love jazz and still wanted to bring it here. In my BA we had a module for offering alternative epistemological perspectives to the traditionally Western; looking at alternative media and sources of knowledge and so on. What is included below is a slight rework of my assignment, specifically looking at Jazz. In order to keep some link to justify me adding this to my website under the thoughts section, I have made mention of some philosophically related further readings at the end in relation to the philosophy of music, Plato, Aristotle, and Cornel West.
